Rf. 3 – Barcelona

Last summer a group of friends and I went on a three days trip to Barcelona. Our idea was to visit as much interesting places as we could without spending too much money. We were lucky because Barcelona is a city of great architecture and by visiting it it’s possible to observe the work of some brilliant architects like Antoni Gaudí for free.

We arrived to Barcelona at 2 pm, then we went to our hostel and had lunch, we rested and then we spent the rest of the afternoon in the Gothic zone of Barcelona, one of its most beautiful parts.

The second day we decided to dedicate it to visit Gaudí’s work so we started from the “Casa Batlló” A beautiful house built between 1904 and 1907 that not only stands out because of its façade but also thanks to its interior architecture. That’s because Gaudí was one of the first architects to use the catenary on a building.

After this we went to the “Pedrera” another known building of the architect built between 1906 and 1912 it is named “la Pedrera” because of its exterior aspect very defined by the stone.

In the afternoon we kept visiting Gaudí’s work  and we went to the “Sagrada Familia” his unfinished most known project. We weren’t able to go inside but the view from the outside was astonishing.

The second day we took a walk through the streets of Barcelona without any specific destiny, we went again to the Gothic part of Barcelona because the last time we felt like we hadn’t been there enough time, we had lunch and then in the afternoon we decided to go to the highest part of Barcelona to enjoy the sunset.

That night we went to a pub to celebrate and say goodbye to Barcelona.

The next morning we took a bus to Valencia, that was the end of our trip.
